    Colic Relief

Here is an idea to try if you have an excessively colicky baby that won't be quiet.

    Warm baths.

I've never thought of this, but from what I've seen around, it work well! A baby can be soothed almost instantly by being soaked in warm water and played with. This is also good because it introduces the baby to water early, so you can be sure that they will like swimming when they grow up, as long as you're careful.

What do you all think? Have you tried this?

I've seen this method before and it does work to relieve a baby's colic, but it can take a while. Also, a tub can be messy since the water can slosh out, and bathing a baby in a full bathtub is a bad idea. One thing that helps my baby is to hold him still while picking him up and playing with him. Many people like to jiggle babies to calm them, but it can aggravate colic.

I'm glad you can offer your experience, Emma! I agree with your methods, an I'd like to suggest one more: Lactobacillus drops. Putting a few drops of the culture in a baby's food or drink can greatly calm them and help colic. Lactobacillus acidolphus and lactobacillus reuteri are most often used.

I never have even thought of these methods, but that does make sense. warm baths calm me down, why wouldn't they calm the munchkin down too?
