    Remembering details

When I dream I can remember the gist of it but I can not remember the details. My brother is quite different though. When he dreams he remembers every single little details. It usually takes him about an hour to tell you a dream because he remembers so many details. What is that about?

I can not remember details like that either. I kind of hate listening to people who take a long time to tell you a dream. To me too many details makes the whole thing really confusing.

Sometimes I can remember the details and the dream feels so "real" to me. I actually have to think did this happen or did I dream it. I do not always remember all the details though. I would say more often than not, I don't remember many of them.

Is your brother telling you a dream when he was sleeping or awake? I have a cousin who is somewhat the same. Sometimes I think she tells me about her daydreams rather than her dreams while sleeping.

They are all sleep dreams. I dunno I always tell him that he should write a book. He does not think he would make a good writer but the way he describes dreams turned in to a book might make a good read.

Has anyone ever heard of awake dreaming. They are kind of like a cross between sleep dreams and day dreaming. When I awake dream I tend to remember all the details yet none when I sleep dream.

For me this varies to be honest. Sometimes I cannot even remember the dream at all and other times I remember little details about the dream and then there are times when I remember details about a certain part of the dream. IN this case it really matter how tired your mind is to remember or if the dream was of interest to you. I believe quite a few factors come into play here.

I personally haven't experience awake dreams, but have heard about it. It is some form of meditation and requires quite some amount of practice. Would you mind sharing here how you are able to accomplish this and what exactly is required to be doing it. Sound quite interesting.

yes this is actually known as lucid dreaming. lucid dreaming is the act of dreaming while your mind is still partly consious and you are quite clearly aware of the fact that you are dreaming. this of course is not easily accomplished and there needs to be proper exercises done that help one to achieve this

If you want to improve the amount of dream recall you can start a dream diary. Write down everything you remember each night upon waking. As the weeks go buy you should increase your recall of your dreams.
