Noises to help sleep
I have a fan on every day of the year. There is something about the noise of my fan that helps me feel comfortable and lets me sleep. Do you use any noises to help you sleep?

Sometimes I play the CD with seashore sound as background music. This easily calms me down and lullaby me to sleep. I think it is human nature to fall into sleep while listening to music.

Yes, when I have difficulty sleeping I turn on the television, that really helps me.

I too turn on television. I have a big problem lately falling asleep without it. I however do not sleep as well as I used to when I was able to fall asleep without it. I also sometimes get nightmares due to what is playing on TV while I'm asleep.

A Fan to Help You Sleep
I have to sleep with a fan on, too, because I'm a light sleeper. Every noise wakes me up, and the TV has sudden loud noises and flashes of light that startle me awake. I've tried a sound machine, but I like the air on me, too. My husband has the exact same issue.

My mother got herself a fan and it's pretty much useless and annoying she said.
But maybe it's just her...

Also, some people like white noise. There are a ton of white noise apps for the iphone and some you can find online.

White noise is an option, but most people just find it very annoying, like a constant broken TV.
Try rain sounds. People seem to sleep better in the rain. I don't know why, but it works. Rain and occasional thunder is better. One of my favorite tracks had rain falling softly onto a forest floor, the sound of the rain hitting the leaves was very calming.
