Can you sleep with the lights on?

I just can't sleep with any kind of light on, even a night light. I can only sleep well in total darkness. Sleeping in total darkness is so refreshing and peaceful.

What about you? Is it possible for you to sleep with the lights on? Do you have a night light where you sleep?

I can and I do not have a problem with this. My partner is the opposite if it is not pitch black he can not sleep. I am trying to get him to wear a sleeping mask.

I can sleep with lights on but it won't be a continuous sleep. I would wake up frequently because of the light. This just happened when I had a sleep over on my friend's house. He can't sleep with pitch black so his lamp is open. I end up sleeping on the couch because the living room was dark.

I have no problem in sleeping with the light on. In fact, I kept sleeping with the light on when I was home alone until eleven or twelve years old ) Then I was afraid of the dark. If I am really tired, I fell asleep instantly, not taking into consideration if the light is on or off.

I can not sleep with any light on at all. I also will wake up often like heavylight does. Then I wake up exhausted in the morning due to the no sleep.

I can sleep with the lights on now, but before I used to have a lot of trouble. Even the little light from the dvr felt like it was illuminating the room. Little by little I have been getting used to it.

I can't sleep in total darkness. Seems too much like being inside the grave to me. Also it's not good from the security point of view. When we are startled out of bed by things that went bump in the dark, we don't want to start bumping things in the dark ourselves. So I always have a small night light on.

I can't call it totally sleeping with the lights on, but I can't fall asleep if I don't have a tiny lamp on. I don't know if it's a disease or something...I'm not afraid of the dark, but I feel more comfortable if that lamp is on. Sometimes, I turn off the lamp, but turn on the tv instead.

Nice question. My wife and I had to agree on this because we were slightly different in the beginning. She preferred to have lights on. I could sleep with either lights on or lights off, but I preferred having a dim light on somewhere (not from the ceiling). This was why we bought a lamp. All my wife had to sacrifice was the amount of light in the room.
