I need help to determine WTF happened last night...

    Here goes,

I awoke last night , cant tell you what time, must of been past 1am because I remember waking up and looking at the clock at about half 12 and went back to sleep.

Anyway, at first it was as if I woke up slightly (half-asleep), then I felt like I was being dragged out of the bed, and spun around!!! But I woke myself up at that point and I thought 'wtf was that', but too tired to wakeup fully I fell back asleep...

Then it happened again before I was fully asleep, like in a half-asleep state but still conscious. SO I thought screw it i'l go with it and wont wake myself up this time.

Then it got weird!... I spun around, stopped, heard a loud buzzing/drilling noise for about half a second, then saw a bright white light flash right in front of my eyes. At this point I started to get a slight headache, so I did wake my self up.

Now I'm no believer in ghosts, im not spiritual, im not even slightly religious. But I'l tell you now, If I 'had' been abducted at some point, thats the most believable memory / flashback Il ever bloody have!!.

    Can anyone help?

hi, this has nothing to do with ghosts, people always imagine things when they don't know what's going on

what you experienced sounds very much like hypnagogic hallucinations. you can read on my site all about them. is this a one off experience? are you have sleep deprivation? are you sleeping at different times during the day (irregular sleep cycles)?

    anyways, this is nothing magical

That is good that you seem to have kept your cool about this. There are hypnopompic hallucinations which we have as we are waking up which is like a dream-like (very REAL) feelings and visions happening. Hypnogogia happens as we are in transition falling asleep. I think of it as REM intrusion into a waking state. All kinds of weird things "happen." I guess the best thing is to either try to rouse fully or just "go with it" as long as it isn't going to leave you with PTSD. I can see how it could leave people with PTSD, though!

Hey guys many thanks for your replies and iv read about what you said and it sounds like a logical explanation.

This is not the first time this has happened - a few years ago while on holiday I had a couple of similar (but no where near as bad) experiences where I thought the room was spinning while half asleep (no drugs) I think I was quite tired then though - Back then I just thought this was a bad dream.

I wouldn't say I have sleep deprevation I get pretty much a constant 8hours a night and go to bed at roughly the same time each night within an hour or so.

Yea I'm a pretty calm person, actually not alot scares me - now I know what this is about I can see how some people would be scared! But I think it was actually kind of cool! lol.

    Thanks guys.
