    Sleep Apnea and the mind

Sometimes knowledge is power and sometimes it is a distraction. Having sleep apnea must be recognized because you can help yourself be as healthy as possible if you have the right tools. Still I know that it can also become your minds focus bringing stress and worry in to the picture. How do you help someone who is struggling with this cope with their sleep apnea?

That is a good question. I think you have to be really supportive. I think someone who is focused on their fears and worries with sleep apnea will need someone to pull them back. Someone who can help them stay positive and keep working toward a better life.

I think that is a good piece of advice. I think sometimes we forget that it is normal to be afraid and that it is ok. At the same time we can not let the fear consume us or it will decrease the quality of life.

Make the mind of that person occupied all the time so that person won't have time to think about his or her fears. Like chacha said, it is normal to have fear but when we are busy with other things then we won't have the chance to think more about the thing that we are afraid of.

Fears and anxieties can make us even more unwell than we really are. This is true for all problems including sleep apnea. The person concerned has to tackle this on their own - without letting it overtake their own lives. This is easier said than done - and our only role as bystanders is to help them relieve their anxieties and provide the support systems.

Fears won't help out the person so try to keep his or her mind occupied with some productive work. If the person is occupied with work then he or she may not think over the physical weakness.
