Yes there are three different classifications for sleep apnea, they are: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), central sleep apnea, and mixed sleep apnea. Central is the lesser known type and is cause by a defect in the central nervous system.
I've been reading the posts and examining my own experiences. Are there more than one sleep apnea? Maybe one that's medical and changes or goes away over time and the more serious ones I've been reading about here?

Is mixed sleep apnea a mix of the obstructive and the central? I think I may have obstructive apnea and it is getting worse. I just wish I had medical insurance to take care of it.

Me too. I had no idea that there were different types of sleep apnea. I wonder which one is more common and which one is tested for first. I would think obstructive is more common.
