This is evidently true as i personally love having zombie dreams. Good fun when your trying to have an action led dream! But I think it depends on what effects you personally as I am not affected negatively by these kind of dreams.
I try to avoid watching a horror film at night - specially late at night - even though I enjoy them a lot. They seem to have an adverse effect on my sleep. I am not sure whether this is true for others also - but it must be since movies always leave a residual effect on your mind.

Sure they have an effect... And if you take into account the fact that our subconscious mind holds every bit of information we receive together with the fact that scary movies are associated with very deeply felt emotions, you have an effect that is residual. I try to stay away from that kind of movies... Last time I watched a horror movie probably 4 years ago...
yes, these two do have a direct effect on each other. what you see before bed is what you think subconsciously. Research has shown that people how watch horror films tend to wake up during the night, triggered by nightmares. Try to stay away from these types of movies or shows, and try to watch something more calming.
