Best way to fall asleep quickly

Hey, could anybody here please tell me of a fast, reliable and easy way to fall asleep quickly that has worked for you all the time?

I often stay awake for around an hour after going to bed. I've tried many things to fall asleep fast, but none have produced consistent results.

Sleep inducing music has worked for me whenever I had trouble falling asleep. There is a lot of sleep music that you can buy off the internet. I have purchased music from soundsleeping.com and it has worked well for me. Or you can download some relaxing music off Youtube using keepvid.com, convert it to mp3 and play it when you go to bed.

I bought a Rain dvd that works well for me. It plays the sound of gently falling rain. There's nothing I like better than sleeping on a rainy day.

If you are so inclined, you can learn meditation and relaxation exercises. They have always worked great for me. Here is a link where you can get an easy technique for this.

    Daily Meditation

Yes, that is very relaxing. The sound of the waves of the sea gently lapping the shore are also great.

We have different ways of getting to sleep so there is no one way wherein we can fall asleep quickly.

As for me, I can't sleep before midnight so I will be watching a movie to fill up my time. Tiring yourself is also an effective way to put you to sleep.

A friend of mine taught me this exercise, which sometimes helps if I'm already feeling a little tired:

Imagine that you're laying on a perfect, comfortable beach. It's the perfect temperature - warm, with a slight breeze. The waves are gently breaking nearby. You feel heavy, unable to get up or move much, so you just lay there, listening to the waves break...

I like to notice my breathing and just feel the rise and fall of my breath, nothing else. Sometimes deep muscle relaxation techniques work well for me too. The main thing is to relax more thoroughly. Best wishes.

Relaxation cycle works best for me. Either I lie down or sit down in a very relaxed posture. Then I go through a guided sequence of relaxing my scalp, every part of my head, the shoulders, arms, chest, abdomen, legs and feet. This is complemented by a breathing pattern of inhaling deeply and exhaling it all. Having a musical background always helps as well.

For me I make sure I'm really tired and then I fall right to sleep. Try reading before bed, not something that you won't be able to put down just something you enjoy. Reading always makes my eyes tired and I usually fall right to sleep.

For me, the only way I can get to sleep and remain asleep throughout the night is to make myself so completely tired, I can't think straight. I do yard work in the morning and have a cup of tea to slow down the body, in the afternoon I do housework -- cooking, cleaning; then I do craftsy type stuff because although it's still work, it's quieter work; have dinner with the family, clean up afterward then read. I've worked constantly but not constantly hard. By time bedtime rolls around, admittedly not until after midnight, I'm through.
