    Night shift and Insomnia

I'm a registered nurse that works 30 hours per week night shift. I do work one day shift a week, being Monday's. I try very hard to return to normal sleeping patterns on my weekends although it's proving almost impossible. I have tried Restivit and high doses of Valeriana with little effect. Im becoming very desperate. Offen I'm still awake at 3 and 4am Monday morning knowing I have to be at work by 8. My lack of sleep has now started to impact on personal relationships. I enjoy working night shift but as of late it has really started to take its toll mentally and physical. This week my next move is to see my GP for his opinion. Any advice would be welcome.

Ok...I'm at my wits end. I spend most of my weekend feeling down and lethargic because I just cant get to sleep until 2-3am in the morning. Thats with meditation and 20mg of Temaze in my system. I've also tried also tried high doses of Valeria, a natural sedative. I'm not going off night shift...I like it too much. Thoughts?

did you try to take melatonin? It is often used for altered sleeping patters like jet lags or when you work rotating shifts..
