3 easy tips for insomniacs to sleep better

Insomniacs have a very hard time. Not being able to sleep when you have to, is a great torture. I present 3 simple tips that any insomniac can follow to get better.

1] Drink herbal tea before going to bed. I highly recommend chamomile tea which I have used to great effect. Warm milk will do as well, as it contains tryptophan and calcium which will help you sleep better.
2] Do some exercise (Minimum 15-20 minutes) at least an hour before going to bed. This can be aerobics or eastern exercises like yoga. This will relax you and make you sleep easier.
3] Your mind must firmly associate your bed with sleep, and this can lead you to falling asleep quicker when you are on your bed. So do not do anything else while being on bed such as eating, talking on the phone, reading books and such. Your bed should ONLY be used for sleep.

Okay, your 2nd step raises questions. I was told that exercise before bedtime is one of the reasons we can't sleep. I think insomnia is personal. Someone's go to sleep method is another persons' stay away technique. I exercise to stay away, even yoga, it revitalizes.

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, smoking and large meals in the evening. You can try various yoga’s like deep breathing, meditation and stretching before bedtime to promote sleep.

Ya, if I exercise before sleep I get wired and stay up all night. I think its better to exercise in the morning if you have insomnia.

Sometimes reading in bed can make my eyes tired and I feel more likely to fall asleep unless the insomnia is really bad. In that case nothing really works. Someone mentioned passion flower before as a way to stop insomnia, has anyone else tried this?

So far I haven't heard anyone mention finding a more comfortable sleeping surface or sleeping propped upright or maybe some different mattress types. I want to try a new bed once I get the money. So far it looks like air beds like Sleep Number Beds and Mattress by Sleep Number have problems keeping the same hardness and temperpedic type beds Tempur-Pedic are too soft, so I'm interested in one of those gel beds Best Mattress For Back Pain, Bad Back or Back Problems | IntelliBED Anyone have any suggestions or have tried any of these mattresses? Besides insomnia I have quite a bit of back and neck pain also and its possible a lot of people that can't sleep have uncomfortable beds.

based on experience, if you're kinda preoccupied and had lots of things going on your mind, then you can hardly sleep.
like me, and I dont know how to overcome this.
