With narcolepsy I think it is important to avoid anything that could be a toxin. From what I understand some toxins can effect a narcoleptic person more than a healthy person. Click here to see a list of toxins.
I am wondering id there are any diet modifications that a person with narcolpesy can make to help reduce the symptoms. I know epileptics can go on special diets and products that can help. But what about narcoleptics?

Diet and sleeplessness have always had an intrinsic connection and many of us have noticed that certain food items give us a better sleep or less sleep. The same is true with sleep narcolepsy - there are certain diet items which may not be the actual cause but may affect the intensity of the problem. It is good to observe the effect of a particular diet on your problem.
Getting off foods a person may be sensitive to, healing the gut, exercise, sleep hygiene - all may contribute to general health and therefore sleep.
However, I know someone who did all that and it helped but still needs meds in the daytime to stay awake and alert. Perhaps it may be that there is more going on than just one thing, as inflammatory/autoimmune problems often do not affect just one thing. But also, perhaps it is a matter if you do not have a chemical (orexin) then, you simply don't have it and lifestyle changes won't fix that.
But being as healthy as you can be never hurts.
