    Dreams Sleepwalkers Have

What kind of dreams trigger a sleepwalker from sleepwalking? Do they even dream when they are sleepwalking? If they don't need a dream then what triggers the sleepwalkers to sleepwalk?

I have often wondered the same. Once I asked my brother and he doesn't really remember if she was dreaming of anything in particular. Except for one time, he says he realized he was eating in the middle of the night, and then remember that he was dreaming about being hungry.

Going by personal experience, I have never remember what I have been dreaming when my family have pointed out I have had a sleepwalking incident. I wish there was a machine that could record my dreams so I can see what triggers it.

They say that fatigue, prior sleep loss, and anxiety are all triggers that cause sleepwalking to happen. So if they are in one of these states when they get to sleep, then they will probably end up sleepwalking too. It's not just dreams that trigger sleepwalking to happen, it can be lots of things. They are in the deepest stage of sleep and usually dreams are seldom reported in this state.

The fact is that they are in a state of sub-conscious when they walk around - then it is clear that they are not likely to remember what dreams they had when they began to walk around the place. But it would be nice to know as to what triggers that walk - is it a dream or just stress.

I agree with you - the sleepwalkers are not likely to remember what they are dreaming - since they are not likely to even remember that they were sleep walking. Maybe there is some trigger in their dreams which causes them to begin walking - or maybe it is just something that happens when they go into a particular sleep cycle.
