    Crime Done While Sleepwalking

Is there a possibility that a person can defend itself with a murder by saying that he or she was sleepwalking and that he or she doesn't know what was happening?

I doubt it. In most cases a sleepwalker would just pass by a would be assailant and wouldn't even be aware of an intruder in the house. I do believe that a court of law wouldn't uphold a not guilty of murder plea simply because someone said they were sleepwalking. I don't think any court would buy such a thing. That's just my view on it, but are people really aware of external stimuli when they are sleepwalking? I know I'm not.

Yes, depending on what country the person is in and only if the person was able to prove it in some way. For instance if a person has violent sleeping tendencies and has gone to sleep institutions for help and it has been in fact proven that that individual has very aggressive sleep tendencies the matter can be weighed in court, however there is no guarantee that that person would be found innocent though because it would be a case still quite difficult to prove.
