    Sleepeating

    I sleep walk and it looks like I also eat while I am sleep walking. I have always wondered why I can not lose weight. How can I keep myself from sleep walking and sleep eating?

    There is no known way to absolutely prevent sleepwalking. However, certain steps can be taken to minimize one's risk. These include:
    * Get adequate sleep.
    * Limit stress. Meditate or do relaxation exercises.
    * Avoid any kind of stimuli (auditory or visual) prior to bedtime.
    * Meals should be eaten at least 2 hours before going to bed.
    * Avoid drinking alcohol before going to sleep.
    * Avoid over-exertion before bedtime.
    * Another way to help prevent sleepwalking, is to wake the person about 15-20 minutes before their sleepwalking episodes, to help break the cycle.

    That's strange, I have never heard of sleepeating. I'm no expert, but maybe you are not sleeping or eating enough on some days? Maybe this is causing sleepwalking and sleepeating. Anyways, I hope you get cured.

    I have never heard of it either. It must be dangerous! You could choke! You should really try to stop eating. Perhaps put a lock on the fridge when you go to bed? If you can't stop then you should check with a doctor.

    I am wondering to know about the sleep eating. The reason is that I aware only about the sleep walking but not about the sleep eating. I am really thankful of your stuff to getting the idea of the sleep eating. But I want to know more about its symptoms and solutions of it.

    Ensuring that you are full enough before going to bed perhaps can help somewhat. I have also heard about people putting locks on their fridge to prevent them from opening the fridge at night.

    Yes that really does sound very dangerous. I mean, you aren't really in control of yourself when you are sleepwalking, you are really in a dream state. I don't think this is a very safe thing at all and yes you should check with a doctor as soon as possible. I know I would if I was in your position.

    Lioness has said a good point of breaking the sleep cycle of the person. But one thing to take note here. Is it that the sleepwalking has fixed time like it happens only after certain hours of sleep? I dont think it is so.
